Grilled Tofu Steaks

Oh my goodness, we could not get enough of these! I needed to make a quadruple recipe–these were delicious and easy and a hit with all 7 of us!

Just like Brendan Walsh’s recommendation on the Fall Harvest Salad, I am thinking this might also be a good recipe to pull out at Thanksgiving!

I might experiment with more traditional Thanksgiving flavors, but either way, we will be making these again very soon!

They are super simple–just press your tofu (I usually do this with dish towels and heavy books or pans – see my crispy tofu post for more info on how to do this as well as the health benefits of tofu, but a tofu press like one of these makes it super easy too), marinate it and grill it up.

I just pulled out my trusty little George Foreman grill which worked perfectly.

I even experimented with omitting the oil and had no issues with it sticking.

I do think the George Foreman has a pretty good non-stick finish on it, so that is something you’d want to keep in mind . . . a pan or grill more prone to sticking would need to be well-oiled.

But the extra firm tofu holds together really well, the grill marks make it super appetizing and the rich flavors make it disappear fast!

My family really didn’t notice a difference between the oil and oil-free version. I thought the oil-free had a slightly more intense flavor which means you could probably get away with a shorter marinade time!

Brendan Walsh eats a TON of food to fuel his lifestyle as an ultra-endurance athlete and this grilled tofu and Fall Harvest Salad are meals that keep him going.

It’s incredible what you can do when plants are your fuel, and Brendan is living proof of not only the physical benefits but the mental and emotional ones as well. Don’t miss his inspiring story of turning his life around and being intent on spreading goodness everywhere he goes.
